Sara's Story
When Sara witnessed first hand the impact dentistry had on her father’s self esteem, health and overall wellbeing, her dream was to become a dentist to do the same for others. That new smile unleashed in her the desire to be a part of one of the most dynamic and emotionally, financially and professionally rewarding careers there is. So she knew where she wanted to end up, but had no idea what it would take to get there. She knew it would be a highly competitive process because last year there were over 12,000 applicants to dental school all with solid GPA’s and credentials. She decided to strengthen her application by completing a Master’s degree but she felt like she was missing a key element to make her stand out as an applicant. From previous jobs she knew that experience is highly valued and that she wanted to be close to the profession, so she became an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. That enabled her to gain invaluable knowledge of the dental field, allowed her to form lasting relationships in her network and helped her develop the hand skills she would need when entering dental school. Sara’s story has a storybook ending, last year she was accepted into the University of Florida College of Dentistry class of 2022.
Sara’s story could be yours too.
